Pipitea Childcare Centre is a parent led co-operative. That means that Pipitea is a not for profit childcare centre and parents are involved in the governance and management of the Centre.
At the core of our philosophy is an environment where whanau are encouraged to participate in the management of the Centre and to take a positive interest in the day-to-day activities of the tamariki.
The Management Committee is voted in each year at the Annual General Meeting. Our Constitution requires that the Committee consist of a Convenor, Treasurer and Secretary, nominated from the parent body, and at least two other General Management Committee members.
The Committee meets monthly and all whanau are welcome to attend. Following the meeting, minutes are attached to the wall in the hall so that parents are able to keep up to date.
It takes a village to raise a child, and Pipitea is no different. We encourage whanau to actively participate in the Centre through joining the Committee, attending working bees* and social get-togethers, engaging in fundraising activities and offering their expertise/skills. The Centre relies on this involvement for its success and values every contribution big or small.
*A donation will be requested of families who do not wish to participate in the working bees.
