Welcome

Welcome to Pipitea Childcare Centre! We are a small non-profit, parent-kaiako childcare cooperative located in Thorndon, Wellington.

Our purpose is to provide a safe, caring and stimulating learning environment that feels like a home away from home for all tamariki in our care. Our vision is to develop curious, compassionate and resilient learners who are confident in themselves, of what they can achieve, and in their relationships with people, places and things.

As a parent-kaiako cooperative, whānau are actively and inclusively engaged in the life and running of Pipitea. The respectful relationships between our whānau and our kaiako are what form the backbone of our community.

We have a tamaiti:kaiako (child:teacher) ratio of 1:3 for our under twos, and 1:6 for our over twos. We consistently exceed the Ministry of Education requirement that at least 80% of our kaiako are qualified and registered early childhood educators. We provide homemade nutritious kai (lunch, morning and afternoon kai) for all our tamariki.

We are open from 7.45am to 5.45pm and care for tamariki aged approximately 6 months to 5 years. We have a maximum daily role of 29 tamariki (with a maximum of ten under twos), with tamariki attending a minimum of three days a week.

Our website is intended to give prospective whānau a good overview of who we are and how we work. If you have any further questions about our centre, or would like to come for a visit, please contact us.
