Communication

The key kaiako
Each child at Pipitea has a key kaiako and this kaiako is the main point of contact between each whānau and the centre. Parents participate in two kaiako-whānau hui a year, where the interests, strengths and goals of each tamaiti are discussed. Parents are also encouraged to regularly communicate with the key kaiako or any other kaiako on a daily basis during drop-off and pick-up.

Educa
Educa is a private online platform for learning stories and planning documents and shares a child’s learning journey with whānau. Kaiako write and post learning documentation along with photos and videos. In return, whānau comment on these stories and are also encouraged to write stories about activities that happen at home or during holidays. Whānau can expect one individual learning story per month, as well as group learning stories, snapshots and regular group learning at activities like French, Little Dribblers and Zumba.

Weekly update
Each week all whānau receive an email update of the current happenings at Pipitea. This includes notices, a calendar of available casual days, the menu for the forthcoming week, and any other relevant information.

Social media
Pipitea has a Youtube page (Pipitea Childcare) where videos from kaiako are uploaded for tamariki to enjoy at home. These include story times, dance sessions, and songs.

Pipitea has a private Facebook group for parents and guardians where things like social events are publicised. On joining Pipitea a member of the Governance Committee will invite you to join this group.
