Our purpose – What we do
Our purpose at Pipitea is to provide a safe, caring and stimulating learning environment that feels like a home away from home for all tamariki in our care.
Our vision – What we aim to achieve
Our vision is to develop curious, compassionate and resilient learners who are confident in themselves, of what they can achieve, and in their relationships with people, places and things.
Our values – How we work
Our work is guided by three core sets of values:
Ngā Hononga & Mana Whenua | Relationships & Belonging
Kaitiakitanga & Mana Tangata | Responsibility & Contribution
Mana Aotūroa & Kotahitanga | Curiosity & Growth
Ngā Hononga & Mana Whenua | Relationships & Belonging
All members of the Pipitea whānau experience and model kind and mutually respectful relationships.
- Tamariki experience and develop respectful, secure and nurturing relationships with other tamariki, kaiako and the environment.
- Whānau and kaiako work in partnership and build relationships that are mutually respectful, trusting, open and honest.
- Kaiako feel their contribution to Pipitea is valued and that they have an important role in shaping the life and future of Pipitea.
Kaitiakitanga & Mana Tangata | Responsibility & Contribution
Pipitea is built on a foundation of reciprocity and mutual responsibility for its current and future success and sustainability.
- Tamariki are encouraged to exercise their inherent mana, and to develop and understand their individual responsibility to Pipitea and their wider community.
- Whānau are actively engaged in the life and running of the Pipitea, proactively contributing their skills, knowledge and experience for the benefit of Pipitea now and in the future.
- Kaiako apply high professional standards and use ethical decision making to inform their practice.
Mana Aotūroa & Kotahitanga | Curiosity & Growth
All members of the Pipitea whānau work together to promote and model a culture of continuous learning, exploration and improvement.
- Tamariki develop inquisitive learning dispositions supported by high quality teaching and leadership and informed by evidence.
- Whānau are engaged in tamariki learning and understand the relationship between their child’s day to day activities and the aspirations of Pipitea’s philosophy and curriculum.
- Kaiako support tamariki and whānau to realise their aspirations, and are themselves supported to continuously learn, share knowledge, and be self-reflective in their approach to teaching.
