Ministry regulations state that a tamaiti can only be absent for a maximum of three weeks at one given time and thereafter Government funding ceases.
Whānau must notify Pipitea if their tamaiti will be absent for a long period (e.g. on an overseas trip). This includes the Christmas close-down period, so if a tamaiti is absent on the last day before Christmas, the three weeks includes those days Pipitea is closed.
Parents/caregivers of a tamaiti absent from Pipitea for more than three weeks are required to pay the funding Pipitea loses for the extra period beyond the three weeks until the tamaiti returns.
For all other absences, whānau must contact Pipitea as soon as possible to notify kaiako if their tamaiti will be absent for the day due to sickness or any other reason.
